Helmut Haase knows the newest food-service hit:
"Bollyfood" has become the new mega-trend
India is setting the trend: Indian literature, Indian medicine, and Indian philosophy, not to mention the extremely productive Indian film industry "Bollywood" are all celebrating global success. Now India is also all the rage in the area of cuisine. Bollyfood is, for trend-scout Helmut Haase (57) of Rosbach, the name for this new food-service hit. Through travels in more than 60 countries Haase did not leave a pot or a plate unturned. And he knows India like the back of his hand. Now the fun-food expert from Hesse is presenting his red-hot Bollyfood concept for the snack and menu kitchen in Germany.

Locating and presenting up-to-date trends is becoming more and more important for the food-service industry in Germany, because in a global world the food-service specialist can only generate growth when he distinguishes himself from the competition and frequently has something new to offer. "In the 80s and 90s the most interesting food concepts were originating, above all, in the USA. This time has apparently passed. In the creation of trends we are no longer so strongly dependent on the USA," explains Haase, who really should know, since he has been active in the food industry since 1974. In the year 2004 Haase began his most recent, nearly global, research with regard to food trends. This lead him to Lebanon, Syria, Qatar, the Arab Emirates, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan, USA, Mexico and, of course, India, where Haase had lived more than a year. The results of his exciting discoveries have been implemented in his new and complete "Bollyfood" concept.

The traditional Indian cuisine is just as ingenious as it is sophisticated. Haase is not impressed by the Indian cuisine that has been available up to now in Germany: "often the chefs come from unrelated occupations and are only semi-skilled. But with that background they are simply not up to the task, particularly as it relates to quality." By contrast, Haases new Bollyfood cuisine has been aligned with the conditions and requirements of the German food-service industry in a unique and simple way with thoroughly tested recipes that can be easily imparted to kitchen employees. Haase is initially offering a basic program in the area of food and beverage that is being expanded step-by-step. Included, among other things, is the refreshing yogurt drink Mango-Pulp for the ladies, several types of Chai teas (instant spiced teas), the instant prepared baking mix Nan for traditional Tandoor bread, as well as spiced pastes for the various Tandoori meat dishes. Together with sure to succeed snack and menu suggestions, the food-service specialist can tap into a completely new, fascinating and exotic world of taste. In addition, Haase offers half-day short training sessions for the operation of the Tandoor oven and the optimal application of the spice mixtures at the centrally located city of Rosbach near Frankfurt/Main.
